Egyptian food tastes great but your stomach may need a little time to get used to the the Egyptian environment. Here are some recommendations for you:
- Drink only bottled water and drink a lot of it.
- Peel it, boil it, cook it or forget it. So for example avoid salad as long as you don’t know how it was prepared. Also avoid ice cubes.
The Egyptian cuisine is influenced by many cultures. You’ll find many Mediterranean similarities mixed with a lot of herbs. Egyptians like to have much meat in their meals, but the typical national food is mostly vegitarian. Rice and breaa are the basic elements in each meal.
Desert is usually very sweet.
The national drink is tee. But there is also an Egyptian version of the Greek/Turkish coffee. It has some cardamom added to it.
